現墨画家千道

水墨画会「漂墨」主宰。

1987年大阪府堺市生まれ。岐阜県郡上市で育ち、現在は神奈川県藤沢市を拠点に活動。

伝統的な水墨画の技法を基盤としながら、独自技法「雨墨」を用い、自然と人為、偶然と必然、認識と現実といった異なる要素のあいだに生まれる領域と、その見え方を探究している。

雨によって生まれる予測不能な墨象を転写する独自技法「雨墨（AMAZUMI）」では、雨を単なるモチーフではなく、作品制作における共同制作者と捉えている。

作家の意図だけでは制御できない自然現象を作品へ取り込む。そこに現れる痕跡は、意味や解釈が与えられる以前の現実の断片であり、自然そのものが紙上に残した痕跡である。
作品は、自然が残した痕跡と人間による認識や解釈が交差する場として存在する。

制作の中心にあるのは「Liminality（閾）」という概念である。

世界は明確な境界によって成り立っているのではなく、その境界が揺らぐ場所にこそ豊かな階調や変化が存在すると考えている。

また、私たちは世界をありのまま認識しているのではなく、それぞれの経験や文化、価値観を通して意味を与えている。同じ現実を前にしていても、人によって異なる世界が立ち上がる。

バックパッカーとして世界各地を旅した経験を通じて、文化や価値観の違いによって変化する「世界の見え方」を主題のひとつとして扱うようになった。

制作を通じて、自然と人為、偶然と必然、認識と現実のあいだに生じる揺らぎや余白を可視化し、境界のなかに潜む豊かな階調を探求している。

Founder of Hyoboku, an ink painting collective.

Born in Sakai, Osaka, Japan, in 1987. Raised in Gujo, Gifu, and currently based in Fujisawa, Kanagawa.

Grounded in the techniques of traditional sumi ink painting, SENDO explores the spaces that emerge between seemingly opposing forces such as nature and human intervention, chance and necessity, perception and reality.

At the core of his practice lies the concept of Liminality.

Rather than understanding the world as a collection of fixed boundaries, SENDO is interested in the shifting thresholds where distinctions become unstable and where subtle gradations and transformations emerge.

Through AMAZUMI (Rain Ink), his original technique that transfers unpredictable ink forms generated through rainfall, SENDO incorporates natural phenomena beyond the artist’s control into the creative process.

He regards rain not merely as a motif, but as a collaborator.

The traces that emerge are fragments of reality prior to interpretation or meaning, marks left directly by nature itself upon the surface of the paper.

His works function as spaces where traces generated by nature intersect with human perception and interpretation.

At the same time, SENDO is deeply interested in how we construct meaning.

We do not perceive the world as it is; rather, we interpret it through our experiences, cultures, and systems of value. Even when faced with the same reality, different people inhabit different worlds.

Drawing on his experiences traveling extensively around the world as a backpacker, SENDO explores how cultural and social frameworks shape the ways in which reality is perceived and understood.

Through his practice, SENDO seeks to visualize the ambiguities and tensions that emerge within shifting boundaries, revealing the rich gradations that arise where seemingly opposing forces intersect.

1987
大阪府堺市に生まれる。その後、父方の地元である岐阜県郡上市で育つ。

2011
水墨画家・土屋秋恆氏に師事。

Selected for the National Ink Painting Exhibition at the National Art Center, Tokyo.
Performed a live ink painting at the Rikuzentakata Industrial Festival in Iwate Prefecture.
Participated in Modern Suibokugakai “Bokusenkai” 1st Group Exhibition at Shimokita Art Space, Tokyo.

2014

Held his first solo exhibition “DEPARTURE” at Art Space Pamina, Omotesando, Tokyo.

Visited Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories, viewing works by Banksy.
During local unrest near the Mount of Olives, was exposed to tear gas and minor injury; hospitalized, then resumed painting the next day at Damascus Gate, Jerusalem.

Cuba

Art exchange with local artists in Havana.
Met Eliades Ochoa (Buena Vista Social Club guitarist) in Santiago de Cuba and attended his live performance.
Live painting in front of Che Guevara’s Mausoleum, Santa Clara.

Mexico

Created a mural at Guest House Casa Casa, San Cristóbal de las Casas.
