1987年大阪府堺市生まれ。岐阜県郡上市で育ち、現在は神奈川県藤沢市を拠点に活動。
水墨画会「漂墨」主宰。
私は「境界」をテーマに、存在と認識、自然と人間、偶然と意図など、異なるもののあいだに立ち上がる世界を探究しています。
私にとって境界とは、二つのものを分ける線ではなく、それらが出会い、互いに作用することで、新たな世界が立ち上がる場所です。
制作の中心にあるのは、“ONE NATURE. MANY WORLDS.” という考え方です。
同じものを見ていても、そこに立ち上がる世界は一つではありません。
私たちは同じ世界に生きながら、それぞれの経験や文化、記憶を通して異なる世界を見ています。
この感覚の根底には、自然とともに過ごした岐阜県郡上市での幼少期と、その後、世界各地を旅した経験があります。
故郷を離れ、都市で暮らし、異なる文化や価値観に触れることで、それまで当たり前だった風景は、私にとって別の意味を持ちはじめました。
世界そのものが変わったのではなく、世界を見る私自身が変わることで、そこに別の世界が立ち上がったのです。
無数の世界を知ることができる現在、それでも私たちは、自らの経験や価値観という限られた視点から世界を見ています。
そこに存在するものと、私たちが認識しているものは、どこまで同じなのだろうか。
同じものを見ているとき、私たちは本当に同じ世界を見ているのだろうか。
私にとって水墨画は、世界を描くための技法であると同時に、世界と関係を結ぶための方法でもあります。
水墨画を携えて各地を旅し、描くことを通して、言葉や文化を越えて人とつながってきました。
現在は、水墨画の古典技法を基盤に、独自技法「雨墨（AMAZUMI）」や、シルクスクリーン、ステンシルなどの複写技術を用いて制作しています。
雨墨では、墨象を施した紙を雨にさらし、制作の一部を自然に委ねます。
雨によって生まれる痕跡を完全に予測することはできません。
私はその痕跡を受け取り、そこに再び人の手を重ねていきます。
意図から偶然へ。
そして、偶然から再び意図へ。
そこに現れるものは、自然だけによって生まれたものでも、人間だけによってつくられたものでもありません。
自然と人間、偶然と意図、その境界から立ち上がる一つの世界です。
作品の中では、雨による偶然の痕跡、人の身体による筆致、そしてシルクスクリーンによって刷られた文字や数値など、人間が世界を捉えるための情報体系が重なり合います。
同じでありながら、違う。
その差異は、対象そのものにあるのか。
それとも、それを見る私たちの側にあるのか。
私は作品を通して、答えを示したいわけではありません。
ただ、目の前にあるものが、今とは少し違って見える瞬間をつくりたいと思っています。
自分が見ている世界の外側にも、まだ別の世界が存在するかもしれない。
作品が、そのことに気づくための小さな窓になればと考えています。

Contemporary Sumi Ink Artist
Born in Sakai, Osaka, Japan in 1987. Raised in Gujo, Gifu, SENDO is currently based in Fujisawa, Kanagawa.
Founder of HYOBOKU, a sumi ink painting collective.
My practice explores the liminal spaces between existence and perception, nature and humanity, chance and intention, and the worlds that emerge within them.
For me, a liminal space is not a line that separates two things. It is a space where different forces meet, interact, and give rise to new worlds.
At the heart of my practice is the idea:“ONE NATURE. MANY WORLDS.”
Even when we look at the same thing, the world that emerges before us is not necessarily the same.
We inhabit the same world, yet each of us perceives it through our own experiences, cultures, and memories.
This perspective is rooted in my childhood in Gujo, Gifu, where I grew up surrounded by nature, and in my later experiences traveling across different parts of the world.
After leaving my hometown, living in cities, and encountering different cultures and values, landscapes that had once seemed ordinary began to take on different meanings for me.
The world itself had not changed. Rather, as I changed, another world began to emerge before me.
Today, we have access to countless worlds and perspectives.
Yet we still perceive the world through the limited lens of our own experiences and values.
How closely does what exists correspond to what we perceive?
When we look at the same thing, are we truly seeing the same world?
For me, sumi ink painting is not only a means of depicting the world, but also a way of forming a relationship with it.
I have traveled with sumi ink painting as part of my practice, connecting with people through the act of painting across languages and cultures.
Today, my practice is rooted in classical sumi ink painting techniques while incorporating my original technique, AMAZUMI, alongside reproductive processes such as silkscreen printing and stenciling.
In AMAZUMI, I expose paper bearing gestural ink forms to rainfall, entrusting part of the creative process to nature.
The traces created by rain can never be fully predicted or controlled.
I receive what the rain leaves behind, then intervene once again by hand.
From intention to chance.
And from chance, back to intention.
What emerges is neither made by nature alone nor created solely by human hands.
It is a world that takes shape in the liminal space between nature and humanity, chance and intention.
Within my works, unpredictable traces of rain overlap with gestures of the human hand and with systems of information through which we interpret the world, such as letters and numbers printed through silkscreen.
The same, yet different.
Does this difference reside in the object itself?
Or does it arise within those of us who perceive it?
Through my work, I do not seek to provide answers.
Rather, I want to create moments in which what stands before us can be seen, even slightly, differently.
Beyond the world we perceive, there may still be other worlds.
I hope my work can become a small window through which we begin to sense their possibility.
